There are several factors that contribute to the change of color in your teeth. Some of those are genetics, the kind of food and drinks you consume or ultimately the practice of oral hygiene. The enamel and dentin play the biggest role in the color of your teeth. Certain food and drinks will directly stain the enamel, but as time goes by, the two biggest culprits are the nasty food and drinks that break down the enamel. As the enamel breaks down, it reveals the yellow dentin underneath. The following remedies will help with teeth whitening and enamel strengthening.
Sodium bicarbonate is mildly abrasive and gently scrubbing away the surface stains can help return teeth to a whiter color. Baking soda is also very alkaline which can help in balancing the Ph levels in case if you are eating a lot of acidic food. It will also reduce the acidity of the lemon juice, which acts as a natural bleach of sorts.
Mix the baking soda with enough lemon juice to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Brush your teeth with the paste and leave the paste on for 1 minute. After that, just rinse your teeth with water.
Strawberries are a rich source of Vitamin C, which can help break down the plaque that is causing your teeth to look yellow. It also has malic acid, an enzyme that can help to remove surface stains. The salt acts as an abrasive portion of the paste, physically scrubbing away stain-causing gunk, and the baking soda is an extra touch that you can choose to leave out if you’d prefer.
Mash the berries into a pulp, and then add a pinch of sea salt and the ½ teaspoon of baking soda. Wipe any extra saliva off your teeth with a paper towel, and then apply a portion of the scrub with a toothbrush. Let the mixture on for 5 minutes, and then rinse.
Rinsing your mouth with coconut oil is an old method of teeth whitening. Lauric acid in coconut oil can get rid of bacteria from your teeth. It is supposed to help keep your breath fresh and promote gum health
This method is most practical to do in the morning before you brush your teeth. You can either soften it or just put it in your mouth. Push, swish, and “pull” the oil through and around your teeth for 10 minutes, then spit it out, rinse with water, and brush your teeth.
You won’t be able to notice the difference immediately after using the pastes, but if you take it as a routine and do it for a while, there will be a change most definitely.
After all, these pastes are cheaper than any other products for teeth whitening on the market and most importantly, they are natural.
