Wheatgrass is becoming one of the most popular foods nowadays. People are going crazy about it and fighting all over it.
Wheatgrass have an immense power, and you will be amazed by how healthy and full of nutrients they are.
Wheatgrass is super-packed with protein, antioxidants and dietary fiber. It is a rich source of vitamins C, A, B1, B6, E, K, potassium, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, iron, zinc, copper, selenium and manganese.
Chlorophyll in wheatgrass has the same chemical structure as your hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in your red blood cells that gives them the role of oxygen carriers.
Chlorophyll increases the amount of oxygen in your blood flow. Studies are showing that patients with thalassemia needed fewer transfusions when given their wheatgrass on a daily basis.
Wheatgrass shows great success in the treatment of several types of cancer like ulcerative colitis and cancer of the colon and liver.
Wheatgrass is a pillar in several alkaline diets, which reduces inflammation and inhibits cancer cells growth.
Wheat sprouts do not contain gluten, because they are harvested before the grains are formed. Great news for those who have gone gluten-free.
Gluten is concentrated only in the endosperm, meaning that it is not present in stems and leaves.
Grow Your Own
Wheatgrass is commonly found in the form of powder, fresh juice and/or capsules.
Juice – 1-2 oz
Powder – 1tbs on 1-3 times a day
Tablets – 500mg
You can always grow your own wheatgrass and below you can see how.
Take a certain amount of seeds depending on the tray you decide to use and rinse them with cold running water.
On the next morning, put the seeds in a glass bowl, pour over some filtered water, and let them soak covered for about 12 hours.
In the evening, rinse your seeds, and drain them using your strainer. Place them in the empty bowl and cover them with the clean cloth.
Repeat this process every morning and evening for 3 days and the seeds will eventually sprout.
On the 3rd evening, get your sprouting tray ready, and spread the sprouts in an even layer along the elevated tier.
Make some baking soda solution by adding 2 tablespoons of baking soda to your spray bottle, and pouring in some warm water.
Spray the sprouts well to avoid mold.
Cover the tray with a lid and keep it that way until day 2 or day 3 of the process. Place the tray in indirect sunlight to get a high-quality and sweet grass.
Spray the sprouts once a day to keep the sprouts healthy and safe.
Harvest your wheatgrass within a few days and enjoy your healthy green sprouts.
